• We have been a Quality Performance Accreditation Pilot School.  The building principals and staff just recently successfully developed the plan of improvement for the third cycle of this school improvement process.

• We are very fortunate to have a Community Education Program funded in part by trust monies.  Some of the programs available through Community Education are:
  1.  A clothing warehouse
  2.  An after school youth program
  3.  Summer youth programs
  4.  Adult programs
  5.  Organizing volunteers to work in the schools

• Valley Heights operates a summer school program for students in grades 1-12

• Valley Heights has operated a pre-school since 1989.  The Pre-School is for 3, 4, and 5 year olds with fees that are minimal or reduced for those who experience economic need.

• Valley Heights has operated a successful Parents as Teachers Program since 1994.

• We have a distance learning network available to our students and communities.

• USD # 498 annually is a winner of publication awards sponsored by the Kansas Association of School Boards.

It is the mission of the Valley Heights School System to provide an educational system that will cause all students to understand the necessity to acquire the knowledge, skills, and capabilities necessary to be emotionally secure, happy, and productive contributors to society.  It is this mission that all Valley Heights' staff, programs and efforts are devoted to daily.  It is important that every student who is a part of this school system and who graduates from Valley Heights possess the skills necessary to meet this mission.
