Kinder-Prep/Preschool is an environment designed to provide
experiences for children 3-5 years of age. Children generalize
skills they already know to develop new skills through the following
directions such as:
- Playing with others
- Attending stories
- Discovery using their senses
- Moving around in different environments
- Experience sounds
- Singing songs
- Hearing music
- Following Routines
Kinder-Prep/Preschool children begin to move from focusing on
themselves and their needs, to being aware that other people have
needs also.
There are 2 main rules in kinder-prep/preschool:
- Get along with others (share, take turns, be kind and
polite).
- Follow directions given by adults to keep us safe.
The discipline focus in kinder-prep/preschool is based on
"Conscious Discipline" techniques by Dr. Becky Bailey.
"Conscious Discipline" and "Brain Smart Learning" focus on learning
through safe environments. Children learn,
develop and grow when they feel safe. If a child has challenging
behaviors that requires further intervention, a plan will be
developed with the parents to meet the challenging needs and
encourage the best possible environment for all children to learn
and grow. |
