Not Quitting The Fight

Holler if you’re needin’ somethin’ done,” is the chorus from the Upchurch song “Holler Boys.” It is also the belief of hard working and dedicated senior, Gabe Hutson. Gabe has been a member of the Valley Heights family his whole life, and it’s this aspect that drives him to try to include everyone in everything he does. Along with the Valley Heights community, Gabe has spent his spare time as a member of FFA and the high school Band.

His qualities of determination and perseverance drive Gabe towards the field of mechanics. “I’d like to go into auto collision repair or auto mechanics. This will hopefully allow me to open my own auto body repair shop.” Assisting others with their problems is a characteristic that Gabe will be remembered for, and always helping them smile and laugh with his personality.

Gabe looks up to his oldest brother, Gary Alan, as his role model. “He has always pushed me to do better.” Along with his family members, Gabe finds motivation in the quote, “Don’t quit the fight, stand up for your rights,” said by Jamaican singer-song writer, Bob Marley. “Something I will never forget is the time I spent with Mr. Whitson during first hour my junior year.”

Something not commonly known about Gabe is his “street smarts.” “I am very intelligent when I put my mind to it.” It is this intelligence that helped Gabe turn his schooling career around and improve his grades. “I now get to graduate with my class, and that is my greatest accomplishment.”
