PROCRASTINATION; EVERY STUDENT'S WORST ENEMY.

PROCRASTINATION, EVERY STUDENTS WORST ENEMY. Every school year students face the same problem, homework.  Most students put off their work until the last minute, and this is called procrastination. In a 2007 meta-analysis by the University of Calgary, psychologist Piers Steel, reports that 80 to 95 percent of students procrastinate, particularly when it comes to their homework. “I procrastinate all the time, but I do it especially before big projects because I feel that I do well under pressure” said Sam Vermetten Sophomore.

Beating procrastination takes hard work and commitment. Some ways to help you avoid procrastination are; 1) remember to take regular breaks! When thinking about doing work for hours on end tends to make people push it of more. For every 30 minutes you work take a 10 minute break. 2) Give yourself something to look forward to! Plan something to do after you finish your work so you have a reason to be motivated to get it done. This can be anywhere from going out with friends or to knowing that you can go to bed after your work is finished!. 3) Go to the library!. Even though it's a boring place to be, it's a great way to get your work done. Find a quiet spot on your own, get your work out and get to it. Avoid distractions by listening to some music. 4) make sure you get enough rest! it would be pointless trying to attempt any work if you're too tired to take any information in. Before starting any serious work, make sure you've had a couple hours of rest. This may require skipping a night out with friends, or having a quick nap before starting work, but it'll be worth it in the long run. 5) Forgive yourself! A recent study from the University of Carlton found that if you forgive yourself that you procrastinated, you will less likely procrastinate the next time you have an important task to do.  I was going to get a quote from Alli Jones Senior, but I decided to put it off until the next story.
