CHRISTMAS IS COMING TO VALLEY HEIGHTS.

“I think we are all a little nervous, but we will do great!” said Kim Oatney. Valley Heights vocal and band members are putting on their annual Christmas program at the high school on December 12th. High school vocal is singing “Last Christmas”, “When Christmas Comes to Town”, and their own version of “The Piano Man”. The junior high vocal is singing their combination of “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Rockin Around the Christmas Tree”. The junior high vocal members are also joining in with the high school vocal to sing “Night of Silence”. Band is playing “All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth”, Their Christmas Song, (which includes “White Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire”, “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree”, and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”), and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” The Christmas season and Valley Heights is getting into the spirit, writing Christmas lists and giving gifts.


Kim Oatney is the Junior High and High School music instructor. When asked what she wanted for Christmas she said, “I need a new refrigerator.” Mrs. Oatney’s favorite song that vocal is singing is their version of “The Piano Man.” “My favorite song we are playing in band would have to be the combination of ‘Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer’ and ‘Jingle Bell Rock.”

Maddy Walsh, senior, has been in vocal for 2 years and band for 7 years. “This year for Christmas I want a gift card to Taco Bell. My favorite song in band that we are playing would have to be “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, and for vocal probably “Last Christmas.” Maddy plays the flute and the piccolo for the High School band.

Carter Popejoy, senior, has been in band since 6th grade, and vocal for 1 high school year and 1 junior high year. “For christmas I really want a Macbook pro because it would help keep my music organized.” His favorite song in band is “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire”. For vocal “Night of Silence” is his favorite. He plays tuba, saxophone, guitar, trombone, and drums for the High School band.


The Winter music program will be in the commons area of the high school. The vocal and band groups are ready to entertain you into the Christmas spirit.
