VALLEY HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY
MISSION STATEMENT:
Valley Heights Elementary will utilize research- based strategies in preparing students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens.
VISION STATEMENT:
As a Professional Learning Community, we envision a school in which staff:
- Demonstrates a personal commitment to the academic growth and general well-being of all students.
- Nurtures a caring, positive, child-centered learning environment.
- Values everyone within the school community (children, families, patrons, and staff).
- Monitors each student’s individual progress to guide instruction.
- Improves student achievement on a continuing basis by implementing effective, research-based strategies.
- Unites with families and the community to achieve student success.
- Works together in professional, collaborative teams.
COLLECTIVE COMMITMENTS:
In order to achieve the vision of a school that functions as a Professional Learning Community, Valley Heights Elementary staff makes the following collective commitments:
- Provide a positive, child-centered classroom with clear expectations, consistent consequences, and specific, articulated academic goals where all students are valued.
- Improve communication between school and home by actively involving families in the educational process of their child.
- Sustain and improve a positive learning experience in collaboration with the entire Valley Heights community. (Open House, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Colt Booster Club Activities, etc.)
- Work collaboratively in developing instructional strategies and utilizing assessment data to guide and monitor individual learning.
- Develop and effectively implement differentiated instruction to meet the learning styles of all students.
- Model life-long learning through commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement with emphasis on technology integration.
GOALS:
- Promote behavioral and social skills that will develop responsible citizens of good character.
- Improve student learning in all areas at each grade level guided by local, state and national standards.
- Assist all staff and students to integrate technology within the learning process.
- Encourage and support creativity, individual and critical thinking, and problem solving.
