Aim High

Marysville Volleyball Tournament “Aim high” is Taya Smith’s motto as she goes through her freshman year of volleyball. This past weekend the Lady Mustangs took bronze (third place) in the annual Marysville Tournament. “The atmosphere was amazing and the excitement was more than I imagined. It was different from Junior High, but I loved it” says Smith. Senior, Kate Wanamaker, says “It was the most enjoyable tournament I have ever played in, and this team is the start of the best team I could ask for. We all laugh and love each other, and play united.”

Before the start of the season the Mustangs came up with three values to uphold throughout the season. The words were unity/cohesive, relentless, and F^2. Smith and Wanamaker both agree that we all showed unity this past weekend, getting along and showing support. The crowd also claimed that the Valley Heights Volleyball team members were all hustling and never once wanted to stop showing how relentless they were. And finally, F^2 (fun and focused). ‘Fun and Focused’ is the Lady Mustangs favorite value. “We are always laughing at something funny, and getting along great, but we also know how to focus and key in on the game when it’s time,” Wanamaker said. The Lady Mustangs had a great start to their season, and there is a lot more to come.
