1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear…” This is a verse that inspires Haylee Nicole Whitson, daughter of LEW and Jill Whitson, to live out her faith on a daily basis. Throughout high school, Haylee has been involved with FCA, NHS, KAY, Forensics, the All-School Play, Art, Student Council, FFA, Cheer, Volleyball, Basketball, and Track. While participating in these activities, Haylee has also held several leadership roles, including being a member of the FCA Leadership team and NHS President. Haylee is also an active member of the Marysville Berean Youth Group, worship team, and youth ministries. Haylee has three other siblings, who she loves fiercely: Lamar IV (also known as Mar E.,) Jarret, and Emma. When asked who has influenced her the most, Haylee said, “My brother Mar E. has taught me a lot about walking with Christ, and being true to myself through each day.”
Haylee’s favorite memory from high school is the love that her father gave her for football. “I will never forget cheering for him and his boys under the Friday night lights, or staying up late to analyze film with him over the weekends.” Her proudest moment from high school was medaling at State Forensics her sophomore and junior year. After graduation, Haylee plans on allowing God to use her to bring the hope of Christ Jesus into the world by completing a Discipleship Training School, and becoming a Christian missionary. As Haylee completes her schooling at Valley Heights, she will be remembered for sharing the love and joy of Christ to everyone she encountered.
