Sitting Tall

On Thursday, February 20th, the Valley Heights junior and senior classes participated in mock interviews to prepare them for the future. Representatives from the surrounding area came to the high school and conducted job interviews with the students, while giving them feedback on what they would look for while hiring an employee. The people conducting the interview were selected based upon their profession. “It prepared me for when I am looking for a job in the future” stated senior Kennedy Stevenson. The employers that participated in this included, David Vermetten with VMT Engineering, John Bergkamp with Valley Heights USD 498, Jessie Schneider with Community Memorial Healthcare, Kenny Steinfort with First Commerce Bank, Sheriff Dan Hargrave with the Marshall County Police Department, Eric Stallbaumer with AHRS Construction, Adam Turner with KanEquip, and Jeff Crist from Crist and Pieschl. Junior Cameron Beardsley goes on to say, “It was a good experience and I feel like it is getting us ready for the real world.” This assignment happens every two years and is a very good opportunity to prepare students for the future.
