PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. Jake Allen Yungeberg was born on November 29th, 2002 to Allen and Jamie Yungeberg. Jake has one brother, Will Yungberg. “I’m on the pursuit of happiness,” is Jake's favorite quote from Kid Cudi. Jake says he loves this quote because, “I am just doing what makes me happy, and becoming a better me each day.”

“If you know Jake, you know he is a man of very few words. But he is always going about his way and doing what makes Jake, Jake,” Mr. Trimble says. Mr. Trimble has been Jakes football coach and PE teacher for the past four years. “Jake has a great work ethic, he is one to never complain. He is one guy that rarely missed an opportunity to up his game on the field. He never missed a practice, and he never complained. That is something you don’t teach, and I couldn’t have asked for a better leader for the team.” Jake may not have lead by his voice, but Mr. Trimble can honestly say leads by example.

Jake has participated in numerous extracurricular activities though the school including the All School Play, FFA, NHS, Student Council, Basketball, Football, and Track. Each club and activity has influenced Jake in so many ways. “Sports have had a huge impact on me, especially as a person,” Jakes goes on to say, “They have taught me to be a better person not just for myself but for teammates. Most importantly, they have taught me to be the hardest worker.” In life we face many struggles, but how we respond to them and overcome them all lie in the eyes of the person. Jake is one of very few people that will work hard in every aspect of life to overcome the pain, no matter the size of the situation.

When asked what Yungeberg’s favorite food was he answered with, “Chick-Fil-A, more specifically a chicken sandwich with fries and a large Dr. Pepper.” Jake's favorite memories come from traveling with friends to watch the girls teams compete in state and sub-state games, as well as personally making it to state in Basketball and Track. Yungeberg is unsure at this time what he will be doing after high school. No matter what he chooses to do, he wants to leave the high school as a good friend and role model to all those around him. “If I could leave the underclassmen with one piece of advice, it would be to soak everything up because it goes fast. And remember the little things, those tend to be the things you remember most.”
