Drake Slifer

FAILURE IS THE BEST TEACHER. “Failure is the best teacher. It means failure is not something to be scared of.” -Dennis Waitley. Drake Ryan Slifer was born on July 25, 2005 to Kim Davis and Cole Slifer. His hometown is Blue Rapids, where he lives with his two younger sisters, Lili and Violet. Drake wants to thank his parents for pushing him to be his best self and that failure does not have to impact his life unless he allows it.

Drake has been involved with FFA, Mustang Tough, for one year. Art, Vocal, for two years. Track for three years, and Football and Basketball for four years. Drake is proud of all his letters from football. Drake received all-state honorable mention honors.

Some advice he would like to give to underclassmen is, “Work hard and keep up on your work in Junior English.”  Drake has always enjoyed a Saturday night. Whether it was hanging out with his friends, going to the movies, out to eat, fishing or hunting. One thing that most people do not know about Drake is that he has never crashed a vehicle.

After high school, Drake plans to attend Manhattan Area Technical College, to become a lineman. His future goal is to make a whole lot of money before retirement so he can be living the dream. His inspiration to become a lineman was to become rich.

When Drake leaves the Valley Heights community he wants to be remembered as a hard worker. “Drake is very honest, kind, open, and he is who he is. What you see is what you get with Drake in the best way possible. He always has a smile on his face, is willing to help others, and is a hard worker.” said Mr. Broxterman.
