IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS. With Christmas time right around the corner, many kids and families are getting ready for the special holiday at home. Christmas traditions date back to the Middle Ages in Germany, Europe, and many other countries. For example, in America, Christmas tree decorating became popular in the 19th century. According to history.com about 77 percent of the US citizens put up a decorated Christmas tree in their home during the season of Christmas.

Many kids talk about all their favorite holiday traditions their family takes part in. I sent out a survey to the Valley Heights Jr/Sr student body asking them all about their family traditions at Christmas time. Some students responded that their favorite traditions were driving around as a family listening to Christmas music, and looking at all the homes decorated for Christmas. One student responded with their favorite holiday tradition being the memories made while all their family bakes cookies together on Christmas Eve. Almost every response said they loved the family time and they hope to carry on the traditions when they have a family of their own.

Family time is great and even better when you have the family you do not often get to see all year round come together at a special time of year. Personally, my favorite holiday tradition is all the time spent with my family and watching the Hallmark movies in our cozy living room. I also love spending time and making memories with my friends around Christmas!
