Maggie's Senior Picture

PEACE BEGINS WITH A SMILE. Mother Teresa had many wise words to say but “Peace begins with a smile.” has always resonated with Maggie. “You never know what kind of day someone is having and a simple smile can be the difference in someone’s life,” Maggie states. This is a perfect representation of who Maggie is as a person. She is always one to spread joy wherever she is.

Margaret (Maggie) Irene Toerber was born to Scott and Sarah Toerber on March 23, 2005. Maggie has two older sisters: Emma and Catherine, and six younger siblings: Anne, Eleanor, Olivia, Luke, Jack, and Maria. “My parents inspire me to be the best person possible because they constantly push me and are checking up on me. They point out ways that I can become the best version of myself.”

Maggie has lived her whole life in Blue Rapids and wouldn’t change that for the world. “I am really going to miss the support and community involvement that the Valley Heights community has shown me all these years. It just feels so much like a home to me,” she adds. You can see Maggie hanging out with friends and spending way too much money on sonic while blasting music in the “Black Stal”. Playing state basketball at Bramlage freshman year with Emma and Catherine was a memory that she will forever treasure. Having experienced how fast senior year is going, Maggie gives advice to all her younger siblings. “Don’t rush the days by. I took elementary school for granted and I hope that they do not wish those days away.”

Maggie has been involved in volleyball all four years where she earned TVL First Team her junior and senior year and was one of the top 20 volleyball players to watch in 2A her senior year. She has played basketball all four years where she has been awarded TVL Second Team and was an All State Honorable Mention. She stays busy by being involved in Journalism, the All School Play, KAY, NHS, STUCO, Forensics, FACS, FCA, Mustangs Mentor, Cheer and Dance, Track and Softball.

Maggie is excited to continue her basketball career and pursue a degree in nursing. As of right now, she is undecided as to where she will attend a four year university. Any school will be blessed to get not only an incredible athlete, but more importantly, an incredible person.
