spring break(ing finals.)

SPRING BREAK(ING FINALS).

Eight students take a trip over spring break…to Clay Center to compete at a forensic meet.  It was a very large meet with over 20 school participating and Valley Heights only took a third of their team but the rewards were well worth it.

Liam Shill was thrown into Impromptu Speaking at the last minute because his coach, Mrs. Coon thought it would be something he might excel at and he did not disappoint.  With almost perfect scores entering the medal round and top scores in front of three judges, Liam punched his ticket to State in Impromptu by taking first place.  Another first place winner was Saige Wilcox.  Saige had already qualified for State in her Poetry piece, but this time she captured the ever-elusive first place finish.  Tyrel Wagner and Kayla Bigham entered IDA for the first time and qualified for Festival with their fourth place finish.

Other medalists include Carter Germann who took 2nd in Solo Humorous, once again qualifying for State.  Dino Conti took 4th and Saige Wilcox took 6th with their Informative Speeches.  Other team competitors include Morgan Vinduska and Abigail Thorn.

Next up for the Mustangs is the TVL meet in Centralia followed, by the Last Chance Meet in Washington County and finally Wamego.  The season is quickly coming to an end and the goal is still to get everyone to State.
