CHECK UP. Some people still can’t believe it’s already 2023, but it is and it’s already February. With it being so late some might wonder what’s going on in the school, how are people doing and how new events are going?

Both boys and girls basketball teams have been playing excellent this year, with many thinking that both teams will win the sub-state. “Girls practice is going really well and I’m excited for future games. I think the team spirit is really good, everyone works together very well” said Josie Parker. Ace Nolan said, “We have a few practices left and we play Blue Valley this week. I’m excited to play the last couple games, but I think everyone is almost ready to be done.”

“Right now, NHS is doing a calendar fundraiser for February where we have to get money for each day. We also have to do service hours for next semester,” said Kasion Bigham.

Mia Vermetten said, “the most important events that happened was the KAY winter formal which we put on and decorated and then the Unit Conference in Hiawatha.”

“In the band we have been working on our concert music because we are going to a contest in April. I think it’s going really great. On the other hand, we've been working on our vocal songs as well as our lunch show,” said Kloee Martin.

Kinsley Gillig said, “We just made and sold our 1,100 FCCLA Valentine cookies and I felt that it went well and next year I’m excited about our officers' election.”

Forensic season started in January and already has ten people qualified for State.  Their season goes until May and there are many more opportunities to get the rest of the team qualified.  It is a big team this year with up to twenty people competing any given Saturday.

“So in the first semester we got the FBLA up and running and we decided what events we were going to do. In January we went to our first district meet and 15 out of 16 of our competitors qualified for state,” said FBLA President Caden Parker.

Hudson Nemecheck said, “we went to national conventions and next week we have national FFA week (NFFA) we’re also planning some events for students and staff as well as our pancake feed this Thursday.
