WORKING HARD, OR HARDLY WORKING? Wednesday June 21, 2023 is the first day of Summer. People have many plans, whether it be staying home and lounging, or working. Most high schoolers have already planned ahead on summer jobs.
Many high school students tend to work around town. The Waterville and Blue Rapids pool are the most popular when it comes to finding a job. “While working at the pool you meet new people and are well known by the community's children,” says Haily Stoudt, sophomore, former lifeguard. Faye Jones, Sophomore, plans on working at the summer camp, Camp Exploration with fun activities with the community's kids. “I like that I'm able to get close to the people I work with, and get really close to the kids that attend the camp.”
Others like to spread out to work outside of town. Freshman, Jamie Thorn has applied to work at the local market in Frankfort. Kabeb Zimmerman, Freshman, says, “I plan on working at Chick-fil-A or Tommy’s Car Wash in Manhattan since that's where I live.”
Summer is coming quickly, so it’s a good idea to get a head start on finding jobs before they're all gone.
