THE BARNYARD BASH, When being asked to help with the Marshall County Farm Bureau Kids Ag Day, Dustin Denton was skeptical at first but then he had so much fun. “There were so many great questions that the elementary students asked. My favorite one was when a kid asked if the calf that I brought was going to be hamburger,” laughed Denton. There were seven Valley Heights FFA members that helped put on a great day for the 4th Graders in Marshall County.

Our FFA members did multiple different stations. Dakota and Kinsley Gillig did a station about goats and how to show and care for them, Krista Porter and her mom did theirs on dog obedience. Dustin Denton painted the different retail cuts on his Hereford cow to show where their meat comes from, and also brought in its calf. Brooke Porter and Emma Brungardt had a station on horses where they talked about what to feed a horse and the rodeo industry. Josie Parker and a few of her siblings brought in tractors and combines and let the kids explore them.

The event reached 170 elementary students from all of the Marshall County schools. Both fourth grade classes from Valley Heights attended.
