Picking up trash

GIVING BACK. “To me the Day of Service is the way students can give back to their school and community,” explains Mike Savage. Volunteering plays a big role in Valley Heights from activities such as, Harvesters, Services Hours, Recycling, Day of Service and so much more. Every year in the fall or spring, the Valley Heights High School gives back to the Valley Heights community by doing a Day of Service. This year they decided to clean up both the elementary and grade school, by picking up trash, pulling weeds, and by doing the same at the high school. “I think it's a really good way to give back to our communities and to be able to teach students about volunteering since it is a good life skill,” said Tyrel Wagner.

Volunteering has brought people together to make a positive difference in their community. It can create a ripple effect of kindness and compassion. That is what the Valley Heights High School has tried to create. “It’s been a tradition at Valley Heights ever since I got here,” says Mr Savage.
