STRAIGHT TO STATE. The Valley Heights Mustang boys and girls teams travel to Alma, Wabaunsee to compete in the Sub-State basketball tournament. The girls team is ranked first in their seedings matching up with the number three seed, the Wabaunsee Chargers, Saturday evening at 5:00pm in the championship game. Friday the 1st, the boys are lining up against Bennington at 7:30pm. The boys team is ranked #6 while Bennington boys are ranked #2. The boys team upset the three seed, Lincoln, earlier this week on Tuesday. This was the only upset in all of 2a men's basketball in Sub-State. Junior Royce Ekstrum said, “We are ready to compete. I think it is a very winnable game and we have a good chance to make it to Saturday.” The Valley Heights Mustangs have a lot ahead of them coming into the weekend.
