NEW TEACHER ALERT: MISS TOERBER. Miss Toerber is the 7th and 8th grade English teacher and she's new to the Valley Heights High School teaching staff. She tells us she picked VHS because “VHS is where I am from. This school, this community, and these teachers are who formed me. Coming back to teach here means that I have the opportunity to touch the students' lives just as the teachers that I had here did.”
Miss Toerber knew she wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. She wanted a career that could allow her to be involved in her kids schedule some day, as well as continuing to be a part of the sports she loved while cultivating and creating relationships. A key figure that inspired her to become a teacher was Mr. Broxterman, through his way of teaching in the classroom as well as on the court. Miss Toerber believes it is important to create and engage her students everyday while creating relationships and doing her best to stay energetic.
Occasionally, she rewards students with skittles to keep them engaged, because who doesn't love a skittle every once in a while! A fun fact you probably don't know about Miss Toerber is that she attended college in North Dakota two years ago. Miss Toerber is going to be a great addition to the staff, providing an energetic attitude and warm smile.
