THE BATTLE BACK. The Mustang Volleyball team traveled to Dodge City for the fourth year in a row at the State tournament. Last season the Mustangs finished runner-up falling short in the championship game to Maranatha Christian Academy. This season the volleyball team came into the tournament being the sixth seed. They went 2-1 in pool play defeating the #2 seed Jefferson County North and Conway Springs the #8 seed. The Mustangs fell short in the first round of pool play to the #3 seed Oakley in three sets. The Mustangs advanced to the second day of the tournament coming out first in their pool; their first loss working to their advantage.

On the second day of the tournament the Mustangs semi-finals  matchup was against the Hillsboro Trojans. The team lost to the Trojans in their Regional game a few weeks prior to the State tournament, so the Mustangs were ready to get them back. The Lady Mustangs defeated the Trojans in two sets to advance to the championship game. Their final matchup was against the Ellinwood Eagles. The Eagles had not lost a game all season and continued to do so in their match against the Mustangs. The team fell short to the Eagles placing runner-up for the second year in a row. Despite falling just short of a championship title the Mustangs proved once again why they are one of the top programs in the State.
