BEHIND THE SCENES. Every year, the students at Valley Heights High School dedicate countless hours to preparing for the annual All School Play, but there’s much more to the performance than what the audience sees on stage. For this year’s production of “Murder on the 518,” the crew consists of 12 people and everyone has an important job.

Junior light crew member, Lindsay Gray shared, “I wanted to be involved with the play but I did not want to have to act.” Outside of the students on crew, there are 24 students acting on stage. Freshman props crew member, Ben Miller says, “The most challenging part of my role is plating the food for the actors.” Another challenging part of the show is shared by senior sound crew member, Stella Martin, who said “I have to make sure I play the right songs and sound effects at the right time.”

The backstage crew does far more than most people realize. Even though their work happens out of sight, they play one of the most important roles in the entire production. “Murder on the 518” will be performed  November 14 and 15 at 7pm and November 16 at 2pm at the Waterville Opera House. You don’t want to miss this show!
