TRADITION. American Poet Maya Angelou once said, “Be present in all things and thankful for all things.” At Valley Heights we give thanks in many ways from simply saying it to recognizing people for what they do.

Tradition is special for a lot of families during Thanksgiving. Mr. Broxterman said, “We all go to my aunt's house and eat a lot. Then, we make our way to the golf course where we play football and other games. A tradition that my brothers and I participate in is fighting over the turkey heart.”

Although carrying on tradition is important to some families, starting new ones can be exciting. Miss Jones shares, “I am co-hosting my extended family this year for the first time. I have a really big family so it’s really nice to get everyone all gathered together at the same time. After Thanksgiving dinner I plan to go to the movies and go Black Friday shopping.”

Thanksgiving is a time to be around the people that matter most and appreciate both new and old traditions. This holiday reminds us to be present, thankful, and cherish the traditions that make our families unique.
