NEW YEAR, NEW GOALS.
As the new year begins, many VHHS students and staff are reflecting on the past year while setting goals to improve themselves academically, athletically, and personally. 2026 has kicked off to a good start with academics and athletics continuing to be successful. A resolution is a goal people set for themselves to improve in the coming year. 55.6% of VHHS students and staff sometimes make resolutions for the new year. Some of these goals are:
Slow down and enjoy the little things
To be kind
Read the bible in full
Be a better person each day
Stay healthy and more active
40.7% of the students and staff are somewhat confident they will stick with these goals all year, while 25.9% are certain they will accomplish this goal. Things that help our students and staff stay motivated throughout the year are:
Journaling
An accountability partner
Reminders of why they choose to change this
Consistency
Feeling of accomplishment
Staff member Liz Miller advises taking time each morning to reset and each evening to assess how the day went to fully assure you are staying true to your resolution. While Mike Savage principal advises that you focus on every day. Setting meaningful goals and using supportive strategies can help you stay motivated to make your New Year’s resolutions last throughout the year.
