WINTER FORMAL. Coming back from Christmas break, everyone is already busy at Valley Heights. The annual winter formal crowning was at halftime of the boys’ game on January 9. This year's winter formal candidates were Chad Bargdill, Kaitlin Hemry, Gabe Padilla, Stella Martin, Caden Weaver, and Josie Parker. The winning candidates were Chad Bargdill and Kaitlin Hemry. After a long, hard game, the lady Mustangs took the victory with a buzzer-beater from Josie Parker. The final score was 54-53. The boys' varsity game was another battle, unfortunately falling short to the Doniphan West Mustangs, with the final score being 62-22.
The Valley Heights annual winter formal dance was held on January 10 in the high school commons. The evening was filled with lots of laughter, snacks, games, and dance circles. Freshman Brian Lowrey says his favorite part of the dance was that there was cup pong! Every year, KAYs organizes, plans, and hosts the winter formal dance. Leader of the winter formal crowning committee, Krista Porter, says, “I am most proud of how everything came together on both committees, along with KAY President, Avery Stevenson, to plan and coordinate the dance.” KAY sponsor, Mrs. Gallimore, says, “We were so grateful for all the support from the community at the games and crowning, as well as Bryce Porter and Rob Stryker for providing their excellent DJ skills, making it a blast for all the students!”
