LAND OF THE FREE, HOME OF THE MUSTANGS. The annual Homecoming festivities are about to begin! From dressing up with friends, to sports, and the Homecoming dance, there is something for everyone to look forward to.
Your Valley Heights Mustangs will take on the Doniphan West Mustangs this Friday, September 11. Leading up to the big game, a dress up day schedule has been shared. Monday’s theme is “Make Yourself at Home,” so students can wear their pj’s and enjoy no school for Labor Day. Tuesday is “Hit a Homerun,” where students are encouraged to wear their favorite jersey. On Wednesday, students can participate in “Rollin’ with My Homies” by matching with a group of friends. Thursday’s theme is “Home Room Throwback,” where students can dress as their younger selves or dress up from a previous decade. Finally, Friday is “Support Your Home Team,” so everyone is encouraged to wear purple to show their Mustang Pride.
There are also several activities happening throughout the week. On Tuesday the volleyball girls will travel to Linn with games starting at 5. On Wednesday, there is FCA at 6:30, followed by Spikefest at 7:15, and Powderpuff at 8. Immediately following Powderpuff is the Homecoming Bonfire, where students cheer, watch candidate games, and each class competes against each other in a game of tug of war.
The Homecoming parade will be at 2:30 Friday afternoon in downtown Waterville. Before the game, there will be a community wide tailgate behind the concession stand starting at 5:30. The game will kick off at 7 with the crowning of Homecoming Royalty at halftime. Following the game, will be the Homecoming Dance that all high school students are invited and encouraged to attend.
This year’s Homecoming Queen candidates are Lindsay Gray, Paige Miller, and Avery Stevenson. The King candidates are Everson Parker, Aiden Unruh, and Charlie Warders. Make sure to come out and support the Mustangs throughout the week, and don’t miss the crowning of our 2026 Homecoming King and Queen.
