9/11: 25 YEARS. We all know of the tragedy that happened to our nation on September 11, 2001. Terrorists attacked our country, destroying the World Trade Center and striking the Pentagon, killing thousands of people to spread fear. Many people still recall exactly where they were when they heard the news. Science teacher, Samantha Parker, was a senior in high school and was sitting in the principal's office when, “Somebody rushed in and told us that the World Trade Center had been hit by an airplane. We were all in shock and we knew this wasn't just by chance.”
Our principal, Mr. Savage, was working in Linn and said, “The news at the time was that a jet liner had hit the first tower of the World Trade Center. As I was watching the building and black smoke the second jet came into view and hit the second tower.” The results of that fateful day left a total of almost 3,000 deaths. Today, we are reflecting on the lives lost, and also the moment in time that changed everything in our lives.
