BELL 2 BELL NO CELL. This year the new Kansas law states that cell phones are not to be used in school from bell to bell. Although there is adapting to be done pertaining to this law, the students and staff at Valley Heights are off to a strong start.
Cell phones are a large part of our everyday lives. Although checking phone notifications might be a big part of our routine, 72% of high school teachers across the United States say that cell phones are a distraction at school (Pew Research Center). Senior Dehlyn Martin says, “In a way, the phone ban is refreshing because everyone is always socializing. Sometimes it is difficult not being able to reach out to people outside of Valley Heights, but adapting is the main part of this new law.” A recurring sentiment being said by students at school is that people are much more social and that there is much less drama.
The students at Valley Heights, although adjusting, are doing a great job at following through with this new policy!
