THE SEASON OF GIVING.“I enjoy spending the holidays with my family and friends. I love being able to give gifts to the people I cherish most,” said Harmony Conti. Students in the school celebrate with different holiday traditions each year. 8th grade student, Brady DeWalt, said, “My family gets together at my grandma's house, where we eat REALLY good food, and sometimes we even do a little hunting.”

This year the Jr/ Sr High School has been getting in the holiday spirit in many ways: seminars are having door decorating contests, FCCLA is selling snowman soup for students to gift to other students, and FCCLA and KAY club is working together with KSRE SNAP-ED and Schools That Care to provide families in the community with meals for Christmas.

Jayne Whitson, Schools That Care Family Advocate, said, “Community members had been asking for ways they could help families in need during the holidays. I had remembered KAY and FCCLA students partnered with Rhonda Joseph from KSRE SNAP-ED to provide meals last Christmas for families in our community. After meeting with the sponsors of the clubs and Rhonda Joseph, we decided we would do it again.”

The attached flier lists items that will be included in each box for people who want to shop and drop off donated food at the high school. If cash donations are made, a volunteer will do the shopping. Donations are due December 14th to be included in the Christmas meal boxes. “We are fortunate to have people in our communities with big hearts for sharing and caring for others; they are very much appreciated! Thank you to all for your donations to support this community service so that others can enjoy a Christmas meal with their family,” said Jayne Whitson.
