My One and Only

THE MAKINGS OF MUSIC. #MustangTough

“Music . . . can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowable,” writes world renowned American conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein. Music can take any number of forms and meanings for anyone. Recently, students from the Valley Heights Art program, as well as the Sound Production class, have had the opportunity to learn from a band called “My One and Only.” The art students learned about the creative process. Sound Production was taught about audio set up and producing music.

This duo from Nashville, Tennessee, is here thanks to the work of the Marshall County Arts Cooperative. They play a genre of music that they describe as “Americana,” which is a modern twist on classic country music. Ben plays guitar, does percussion, sings and does audio engineering for the duo. Kassie does lead vocals and performs auxiliary percussion. They will be performing here until February 20th at various local venues. Music teacher, Ben Worcester, says “The students that they met with were very engaged and loved the performance they gave.”
