Caleb

“It is what it is, you gotta live life” is Valley Heights senior, Caleb Hornkohl’s, favorite quote. Caleb James Hornkohl was born August 19, 2003. His parents are Erin and James Hornkohl, and he has four siblings Angel, Destiney, Takota, and Stormy who also all attend school in the Valley Heights school district. His favorite food is steak fajitas, and on the weekends he enjoys hanging out with his friends. His two favorite songs are “Why” by Read Southall Band, and “17”  by Cross Canadian Ragweed. Caleb’s ideal Friday night plans consist of hanging out with his friends in a shop or driving around.

Throughout high school, Caleb has been involved in FFA, Robotics, and Band. Caleb said his favorite memory at Valley Heights was when he was at an FFA event, and the bus driver backed into a car. Advice that Caleb would like to give to younger students is to “never give up, full send, and have fun in high school.” When asked about his biggest influence Caleb says his dad. He said, “my dad has always been there for me and I am so grateful for that.” Caleb’s senior  mentor Mrs. Kennedy, Superintendent at Valley Heights said, “I am very proud of Caleb for all he has accomplished this year. Getting his CDL, and focusing on graduating and sticking with it. Caleb is a very hard worker and I am very excited to see what he does after he graduates. Although Caleb did get his CDL, I’m still not going to let him drive the school bus.”

As Caleb continues to grow and leave this community, he wants to be remembered as someone who worked hard. After high school, he plans to go on harvest until he finalizes his future plans. In 10 years, Caleb plans on coming back to Blue Rapids and settling down with his wife and kids.
