To Show Appreciation

On Wednesday November 7th, the Valley Heights High School FCA group host the annual Coaches meal. This dinner and lesson was designed to show the coaches of multiple sports and competitions thanks for their contributions to the students and community.

The meal consisted of tacos, nachos, and a wide variety of desserts that members of the community provided. Following the meal, Lance Schroeder, a member of Marysville’s Berean Church, gave a lesson about the idea of success. “When you put something together, it’s got a personal touch. Success is actually a topic that I have to remind myself of sometimes. You have to deal with it in every stage of life, high school and on. I really enjoy sharing my experiences with others, and feel that I am called to share with believers and those who don’t know Christ yet.”

After the lesson, the coaches were separated into two teams for a competitive game using red solo cups, balloons, and a lot of breath. The objective was to go one at a time and knock the cups off the table by blowing up the balloons and releasing the air. Both teams went at the same time, enthused by the loud cheers echoing throughout the commons. The game ended in a draw, leaving multiple competitors wanting a rematch.

The evening came to a close with the drawing for a prize. Tyson Shreiner, son of Katlen and Coach Adam Shreiner, won a copy of the FCA Bible. Buffy Oatney, high school cheer coach, also won a copy of the Bible. Jr. High volleyball and basketball coach, Jenny Yungeberg, won the last drawing, receiving an FCA t-shirt.
