RUN FAST OR BE LAST. The high school cross country team runs to their first meet of the season at Concordia on the first of September. This year's high school team includes senior manager Payton Woodyard, and sophomores, Hudson Nemechek and Kloee Martin.

After leading his team and winning an individual 10th place with over seven schools present, Hudson Nemechek said, “I had a good race and it went well.” Overall, the Mustangs did an excellent job competing and cheering on their fellow teammates.

Kloee said, “I really looked forward to the first cross country meet, but it turned out to be very difficult. It was one of the hardest courses, and temperatures were near 100 degrees.”

“I was very excited and ready for the season to begin!” said Payton Woodyard. Payton is the only senior on the team and helps manage. She cheers on her teammates throughout the whole meet and always makes sure everyone has enough water.

Since Concordia, the cross country team has been at Wamego, Nemaha Central, and Clay Center. Their next meet will be at Rock Creek on the September 26th.
