Audra Steinfort getting defensive with Lilly Busey

CLUBBED TO DEATH. For many, clubs can be the highlight of high school. For some, it's the connection to the community. For others, it’s connecting to other students. But, many can agree, some people feel like they are in too many clubs.

From Robotics to Pep Club for junior high, there are many things for the student body to enjoy. Students often join clubs for many different reasons. Caden Parker, senior, says that he joined so many clubs to help his community. “ I’m in just about every club the school has to offer. I started FBLA to give kids those opportunities to succeed. I joined StuCo to represent my peers.” When asked about who convinced him to join so many clubs he said, “For KAYS, Mrs. Manley brought me in. For others I just joined out of my own free will. With the Student Council President, I guess you could say that I was brought in against my will but I campaigned.” Caden is a part of KAYS, FCCLA, FBLA, StuCo, NHS, FCA, Art Club, and almost every club besides FFA.

Students joined many clubs just to get started somewhere. Alexis Miller, junior, says “I joined all the clubs I did at first just to find something to do.” It was later that Alexis realized that these clubs really benefit the community as a whole. Many clubs like FCCLA and NHS often go out and help clean up the two towns. FFA, FCCLA, and KAYS often help out with the Harvester’s food drive at the churches.

Clubs can be a fun experience and a chance to help your community. They can also help students connect with their peers. But, for others it can feel like too much and cause students to feel clubbed to death.
