FFA WEEK

Valley Heights’ annual FFA week kicks off this week, in correspondence with National FFA Week, and it is loaded with activities that FFA members, as well as community members can participate in. The FFA officer team, made up of Brady Trimble, Konner Treff, Carter Popejoy, Rylie Borgerding, Wes Denton, Josh Whelan, and Sophie Brungardt, has been planning some of the events taking place this week since August. Members of the organization, as well as students not involved in FFA, look forward to this week of festivities. When asked what his favorite part of the week is, senior officer, Konner Treff says, “My favorite aspect of FFA Week is getting everybody throughout the organization involved in all of the fun activities.”

Despite school not being in session, the officer team went around to businesses throughout Waterville, Blue Rapids, and Marysville all-day Monday. They gave out cookies as a show of appreciation to businesses within our communities that support VH FFA. On Tuesday, all members were encouraged to dress-up like a farm animal. Wednesday’s activity was a tour of both Valley Vet and Landoll’s, which was available for twenty FFA members to attend. Unfortunately, it was cancelled due to winter weather. On Thursday morning, the organization put on a Pancake Feed for the second year in a row. It began at 6:30 in the Ag shop and members throughout the community were invited to attend. Later that day, the FFA members and their sponsor, Drew Obermeyer, put on the annual Teacher BBQ. All staff and organization members were invited to take part in the meal of hamburgers, beans, chips, and other sides,  also in the Ag shop. Last but not least, tomorrow on Friday the 22nd, it is Drive your Tractor to School Day. It is also Greenhand Day, and all members are invited to dress up as either Mr. Obermeyer or Mr. Johnson, the student teacher out in the shop. Friday night, all members are invited to an FFA lock-in at the high school.
