J. Haefke on a swing

IN THE MOMENT. “If I’m sincere today, what does it matter if I regret it tomorrow?”-Jos Saramago. This is favored by John Haefke because it reminds him to not spend his life worrying, and to pay attention to the little moments.

John Jaxon Haefke was born on October 11, 2004 in Manhattan, Kansas. John lives in Randolph with his parents, Annie and David Haefke, and many beloved pets. John’s mom has had the biggest impact on his life. “My mom has always been there for me and supported me no matter what.” John’s ideal Saturday night would be sitting on the living room couch, chatting with his friends, and simply enjoying the evening. He might get caught listening to music, like his favorite song, “I See Fire” by Ed Sheeran.

John has been involved in many activities including: Art, four years, Journalism, one year, All School Play, one year, Scholar’s Bowl, four years, Robotics, two years, and Forensics for two years. John plans to major in Internet Technologies or Music Education. John’s mentor Mr. Worchester says, “Whichever path John chooses, I know he will be successful.” In ten years, John sees himself in a small apartment working in tech support or teaching.

John wants to be remembered as the person who always had a smile to offer and was always there to talk. John’s biggest accomplishment is competing at State Forensics. A memory John will always remember is being at State Forensics and watching the first UFC tournament with Tyrel Wagner, Aiden Nemechek, and Liam Shill.  Mr. Worcester says, “John is a talented and hardworking kid, I have no doubt he will be successful.”
