FRESHMAN SEASON. “Getting to spend time with all my teammates from volleyball and transition into basketball season while building friendships with them has been my favorite part about our team.” Quote by freshman lady mustang basketball player, Ava Smith.

This season has been a learning experience for the Lady Mustangs. To say the least though, Smith has been a huge help to the team. Smith is leading the team in rebounding for the season, currently having a total of 70 rebounds. She is also leading the team in scoring, averaging 10.4 points per game. “Transitioning from junior high basketball to high school basketball has been the toughest part of this season for me.” Ava has increased her play in the game tremendously from the beginning of the season to where the team is now in many aspects of the game.

“I’m really excited for the Hanover game at the end of January for sure, getting revenge back from TVL, we are going to beat them this time,” said Ava. “Ava’s love for this game and hard work ethic is something that the Lady Mustang basketball team is blessed to have,” head coach Jordan Broxterman said.
