Kayla Eaton and her dad

NICKNAMES. LOVE ‘EM OR LEAVE ‘EM: “Titles are but nicknames, and every nickname is a title.” Quote by Thomas Paine, an influential founding father of the United States and philosopher. Everyone has had at least one nickname throughout their lifetime or maybe even a few.

Kylah Chase, or “Ky Bug'' according to most of her family, is a seventh grader. Her grandmother gave her this name. Kylah has been called “Ky Bug” since she was a baby. When asked who she lets call her “Ky Bug” Kylah says, “I only mostly let my family call me “Ky Bug” because that’s where it came from.” Kylah enjoys her nickname because it will always remind her of the special connection with her grandma.

Even though most of her friends call her “Kayla Rue”, we all know her as Kayla Eaton. Kayla Eaton is an eighth grader at Valley Heights. Kayla says she’s been called “Kayla Rue” since she was little. “When I was a baby that’s when my parents first called me Kayla Rue”. Kayla says she only lets her family and close friends call her “Kayla Rue”. Kayla has had many nicknames throughout the years but for her “Kayla Rue” never left. Even though Kayla doesn’t use her nickname to introduce herself, she still loves hearing her friends and family call out for her.
