HEAD OVER BOOTS OR HEAD OVER HEELS.  “Country roads, take me home,” quote by John Denver. Some students at Valley Heights may choose to take the country roads, while others prefer the bright city lights. This is especially true in the sophomore class. This class has students who want to move to New York City, and others who would rather stay put in small town Kansas.

Maddy Hanke and Dustin Denton enjoy the small town life. “I like knowing everyone. I wouldn’t want to be in a class with 200 plus people.” Maddy remarked. When asked where she sees herself in 10 years Maddy said she wants to still be in the Marshall County area. “This is where I grew up, and I don't want to live too far from my family.” After growing up on a farm, Dustin said he loves living in a small town because of all the connections you can make. In ten years, Dustin sees himself as a veterinarian, making a big difference in a small town.

Lilly Busey has lived both the city and country life. After growing up in Topeka, Lilly moved to Valley Heights in 5th grade. She quickly realized that wearing cute jeans and nice shirts would not work in a small town. She needed to adapt her style to avoid the dirt and make sure she was wearing the right clothes. Lilly has fallen in love with the country life  and sees herself staying near a small town in Kansas.

Anne Toerber has high hopes to see the shining lights of the city. Anne fell in love with the city through her aunt, who lives in Washington D.C. Anne saw how many different experiences her aunt has gone through and ended up setting her sights high. In ten years, Anne sees herself in New York City or Boston. Though she's always lived in a small town, Anne is a big city girl at heart.
