Randy Watson, Kansas Commissioner of Education, is delivering a message to the USD 498 Teachers and USD 364 Teachers. The two groups of teachers are collaborating together to foster professional growth, share resources and strengthen community connections during their professional development day.

The 3rd - 6th grade students were able to participate in our annual Spelling Bee. The top 6 winners will be announced next week and will be able to participate in the Marshall County Spelling Bee on February 11th at the Marysville Auditorium.
Blue Rapids Elementary hosted the Site Council Meeting Thursday evening. The safety team was also invited to focus on safety and security in the district. Thank you to all who attended during this busy time of year.

This week includes a special segment with our School Board for board appreciation month.
ALL FOR ADDIE
Valley Heights staff and students, along with our VH Community, would like to help Addie Voelker. Addie is a 2nd grader at Linn Lutheran School. She was recently diagnosed with Synovial Cell Sarcoma. Addie and her family will be needing to travel due to her illness and will be taking on additional medical expenses. We would like to help out her family with this journey. On January 28th, VH Boys and Girls basketball teams will be playing Linn. That evening VH will be doing a 50/50 raffle to help this family. Please come out and support both basketball teams and Addie and her family. If you would like to donate and will not be available that evening to attend, donations can be mailed or dropped off at the high school office. All proceeds will be donated to Addie to help ease the burden of this journey.

Fourth graders are exploring the brain's role in receiving information from their senses. They test their quick skills with a "Think Fast" activity by seeing how quickly they can catch the ruler.
