Good Morning Valley Heights. Just a reminder that our food service program goes into effect today from 11 to 1 at both elementary schools. All meals are FREE to anyone age 1 to 18. Parents or guardians must be present to pick up the meals. Let us know we can improve the service.
The regular scheduled board meeting for tonight has been moved to the High School at 5:30.
ACT has decided to reschedule the April 4, 2020 National ACT® test date to our June 13 and July 18 test dates in response to concerns regarding the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). ACT will be notifying registered students directly in the next few days, informing them of the postponement and providing instructions for next steps.
If you live on a rural route and would like to participate in the FREE meal program during the closure, please contact Central Office, 363-2398 ASAP to make arrangements.
During the current closure, USD 498 will operate a FREE curbside food program sponsored by KSDE. Starting Tuesday, March 17th breakfast & lunch will be served from 11AM-1PM at both elementary schools. All children ages 1-18 are eligible for these meals. Questions call 363-2398.
Based on the recommendation from the State Education Commissioner and the Kansas State Board of Education, the Valley Heights school district will be closed the week of March 16 - 20. There will be no activities during the week and staff is to remain off site unless directed otherwise.
Valley Heights schools will be closed Monday, March 16th. We will send out updated information tomorrow regarding future plans for resuming school. The Kansas State Department of Health and Environment is conducting a statewide meeting that may provide guidance on how public schools should plan for the near future. Please stay tuned for more information.
Valley Heights fitness center will be closed until further notice. There are no exceptions for public, students or staff.
The BVL Scholars Bowl Tournament, scheduled for Monday, has been cancelled.
Due to concerns of the COVID-19 (Corona) Virus, the KSHSAA has cancelled the remainder of the 2020 State Basketball Tournament. The Valley Heights Girls semi-final game has been cancelled!
Pep Band - If you play in the VH Pep Band, they will be leaving at the following times from the high school: Wednesday = 6:00 and Thursday = 4:00
SEND OFF! The following leave times will be used by the state basketball tournament teams. If you would like to help send the teams off, please come out to the high school. Girls = Leave from VH at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. Boys = Leave from VH at 3:00 p.m. Thursday.
Here is some general information for the state basketball tournament in Bramlage Coliseum. You can also find any information from the KSHSAA.org website. Prices: Adults = $10 Students = $7 No food or outside drinks are allowed in the coliseum. If you are unable to attend the games, there is a 'Watch Live' link on the KSHSAA website. There is a cost to watching the live games. K-State's Clear Bag Policy is in effect. Only clear bags smaller than 12"x6"x12" or "non-clear" clutch bags 5.5"x7.5" are allowed in the Coliseum. “Perseverance” is the name selected for the new Mars Rover. Over 28,000 students, including Mrs. Laughlin’s seventh grade science students, had the chance to write a persuasive essay to try and convince NASA to select their rover name. State Robotics Update: we made it to state but did not make it to quarter finals. Final standing for Freedom Genuik and Kris Jamieson is 23 in the State of Kansas. Thanks to Sam Caswell and Chase Morris for all their help in getting Robot 498B ready for competition.
The State Robotics tournament is ready to begin. Team 498B is making final adjustments to their robot before heading to inspections.
