Robotics Update: Sam and Chase are entering quarterfinals in 5th place out of 32 teams. The second photo shows the teams and schools at the competition. Valley Heights has been up against some pretty good competitors today.
VH Robotics is competing at Seaman High School in Topeka today. Last week Chase, Sam and John came in 7th and Freedom and Kris came in 8th. Today they need to come in 1st or 2nd to qualify for State.
To The Championship! With a 48-35 win over Washington, the VH girls move on to the championship game versus Centralia. Girls game will be 6:00 p.m. Saturday in Washington!

The advanced art class participated in “The Memory Project.” Students were sent pictures of Nigerian children to create beautiful portraits in the media of their choice. Portraits will be delivered to each child with a photo and hand print of each student artist.
Valley Heights would like to thank Keith Salmans, retired biologist with the Kansas Fish and Game, for visiting about his profession with a couple students who are interested in that area of work!
Due to road conditions there will be no door to door bussing tomorrow, January 21st. Please see the photo for one of the 3 pick up and drop off locations and note the times. Shuttles will run between buildings as normal.

It’s a robotics kind of day. We are at TCALC in Topeka. This is the school district’s facility for students who want to explore careers through pathways in Law, Engineering, Culinary Arts, and more! Today Valley Heights students Freedom Williams, Chase Morris, Sam Caswell, Kris Jamieson and John Heafke are competing.
Parents - Do you have a child interested in attending the Highland Western Center or would you as a parent like to know more about their offerings in technical education? On Monday, January 27th the Valley Heights sophomore class will be taking a tour of the HWC. Valley Heights would welcome parents to visit the Western Center that day also. If you are interested (not just sophomore parents), please contact Mrs. Buck at the high school for more information. Valley Heights will need to know by Thursday, January 23rd if you plan on attending.
Areas of technical education that the HWC offers include: Allied Health, Construction Technology, Diesel Technology, Early Childhood Education, Engineering Graphics, Industrial Welding, Manufacturing Technology, Medical Office Assistant, and Precision Agriculture.
Valley Heights Community Recycling scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, January 18th in Blue Rapids is canceled.
Valley Heights schools will be closed Friday January 17 due to inclement weather predicted for early morning.
