Blue Rapids Elementary held its
annual Spelling Bee. Congratulations to our top 6 winners who will compete in the Marshall County Spelling Bee in Marysville on February 7th. Aurora Conti, Edison Underhill, Kalen Martin, Ryder Heinen, Reece Vinduska, and Carter Stevenson. Congratulations!
The Jr. High BVL Tournament will be hosted by Washington County and starts tonight. Both the Girls and Boys games start at 7:15! Girls play Washington Co. in the west gym and the boys play Linn in the main gym. Let's go Mustangs!!
District FBLA at Republic County that was scheduled for tomorrow, Monday the 22nd has been postponed until next Monday, January 29, 2024.

Tournament games are still being played today. There are some minor changes to the schedule. The Lady Mustangs will play Centralia at 5:30 PM in the new gym.
After driving roads this morning, Valley Heights will now be cancelled all day. No school today. A separate notification will be sent to update on activities.
REMINDER:
Due to weather conditions for Saturday, recycling collection is canceled in Blue Rapids. Remember you can still take your cardboard, plastic, and tin can recycling materials to the collection bin at the Blue Rapids City Park anytime.
There will be a two hour delay for Valley Heights tomorrow, January 19. School will start at 10 AM. *There will be NO a.m. Preschool or KinderPrep. Breakfast will not be served.
The 4th graders are competing in the Read Bowl. This is a global reading competition where PK-8th grade teams around the world compete to read for the most minutes. The competition last for four weeks and then winner is announced on Super Bowl Sunday. Both classes are in the top 15!

Both Mustang basketball teams play today in the TVL Tourney at Onaga. The girls open up with Linn at 5:30 PM, followed by the boys playing Hanover at 7:00 PM.

It is getting that time again to start thinking about Driver's Ed for our young Valley Heights students. That being said, if you have a son or daughter who will be 14 by March 1st, and who would be interested in participating in the VH Driver's Ed program for this year, please email Lori at vhhs@valleyheights.org and let her know your student's name and birthdate and that you are interested in participating. Online classes will start around Spring break and our driving times will be during the summer(usually after Memorial Day thru the month of June). More information will follow, but we would like to get an idea of how many students we may have in the program this year. Again, please send an email to vhhs@valleyheights.org if you are interested.
